We play lots of well known classics, but are well known for playing a number of songs by bands rarely heard on the circuit, helping us to stand out from the others!
Big Red And the Grinners
Big Red & the Grinners are a band consisting of vocals, banjo, guitar, accordion, double bass and stand-up snare & wah-wah washboard, a set was put together which featured influences ranging from Hayseed Dixie to serious American roots folk music. One of the unique features of this band, is how they appear to move seamlessly from the likes of an absurd version of Technotronic’s ‘Pump Up the Jam’ to Tony Rice’s bluegrass classic ‘Freeborn Man’, or from Jay Z’s ’99 Problems’ to Kelly Joe Phelps’ masterpiece of folk ‘Window Grin’.
Formed in September 2014, Clippah now have an extensive repetoire of original material and gigging experience having played regularly at venues such as Newcastles O2 academy and Tynemouth's Surf Cafe. Clippah also have a growing reputation for their acoustic shows, reworking Clippah classics into a more mellow affair.
